Have educators completely forgotten what childhood is all about? Art, music, and physical education contribute significantly to a child's education. However, there is discussion about eliminating recess!
Educators believe that more work can be accomplished if there were no recess. By spending more time in class, the students will learn more challenging materials. Plus test scores will go up. (And doesn't raising test scores look more favorably on the teachers than on the students?)
Recess provides a much needed break. When kids play outside, they will burn calories; learn to socialize; and improve their attention skills. Kids are already too inactive. Let them keep recess.
