Healthy Bones

Your bones throughout your life are being renewed. Drinking more than two glasses of alcohol and smoking can lead to bone disease among other medical conditions. To keep your bones strong, take calcium supplements, get plenty of vitamin D, and eat a healthy diet. This will prevent osteoporosis when you get older.

You get calcium from dairy products: milk, yogurt, and cheese. Dark, leafy green lettuce is another source of calcium. You need about 1,000 mg of calcium per day, which is about three or four glasses of milk. If you don’t like milk, you could also take calcium supplements.

Physical activity makes your bones strong, especially lifting weights. Cardiovascular exercise can be done every day. However, lifting weights must be done every other day.
