You Are Never Alone

Let the tears flow after losing your friend. He/she will be around you in your thoughts. Do something positive. It is cathartic to write a poem, a letter, or create memorial for your friend. Go outside in the sunshine and plant a flower. Or learn to ride horseback. Horses are gentle creatures with big hearts.

When you friend passes away, you feel lonely. Don’t give in to this feeling and withdraw. It may be counter-intuitive to how you feel; however, get together with other people who knew this person and share memories. It’s healthy for you to share with others how you feel about the loss of your friend.

Don’t stop living because your friend has died. He/she wants you to be happy. Being happy though takes work. Anger at God, people, or fate are strong, negative emotions which lead to depression. It may be painful; however, work at loving life again.

Garth Brooks sums up losing a friend in a song her wrote called “The Dance” Here’s a snippet of the song. “And Now I'm Glad I didn't Know; The Way It All Would End; The Way It All Would Go; Our Lives Are Better Left To Chance; I Could Have Missed The Pain; But I'd Have Had To Miss The Dance."

There will come a day when you can understand why your friend passed. That will be the day that the grieving process has been completed. Your friendship with this person is a cherished gift. Your friend wants to be remembered so take time to remember him/her.
