Chicken Soup for the Soul
The computer has many features, but the one feature each senior citizen must learn is how to email. The electronic mail or email feature is breaking through the isolation seniors often feel. Messages are instantly received by family members. This connection is making seniors feel that they are still part of their lives.
Email is also used on online social communities, such as, http://www.twitter.com, http://www.SeniorYears.com or http://www.MidlifeMingle.com. People who are fifty years and older get together online at these social communities and email each other.
Remember when you had a pen pal, and you waited anxiously for the mail to arrive to see if your pen pal would write to you? The Internet has improved having a pen pal because the messages through cyber space are instantly received. You can have a rapport back and forth with someone on the opposite side of the coast.
When you find a social community which you like, then Bookmark it. The Bookmark feature on the Internet can be found on your toolbar. Then every time you want to return to the website, you only need to click on the Bookmark.
Emailing is a great way for senior citizens to stay connected, informed, and involved. As a result, there is less depression which leads to a more active senior citizen. A computer class will teach you the basics and how to be savvy online.
